Anyone who was in the mid 80’s will probably remember the remote control car made by a company called Tamiya, known as Wild One. The RC car looks like a dune buggy and was one of the most desired products for all children in the years 80. A UK company is creating a new version of Wild One with a significant difference.
The new version, called Wild One Max, is a walking toy for adults powered by electricity. The Little Car Company is developing Wild One Max for release in 2022 under license from Tamiya. The vehicle looks like the remote control vehicle, but it is built on an 8/10 scale, instead of the 1/10 scale of the 80’s toy. The larger scale means you can sit behind the wheel and drive the car alone.
Max is about 3.5 meters long, 1.8 meters wide and weighs about 250 kilos. The vehicle is designed to be assembled at home, rather than being purchased as a ready-to-use vehicle. It uses rear-wheel drive and reaches a top speed of 30 mph. The peak power is 4 kW, generating about 5.5 BHP.
The vehicle has a 40 km driving range for beginners and features Brembo hydraulic disc brakes with regenerative braking. The driver’s seat is adjustable to accommodate drivers of different heights, and the Max is equipped with a racing wheel and digital gauges.
The vehicle has several driving modes to suit different drivers. It will have “hop-ups” available to give the vehicle higher top speeds, more power and, in some countries, convert the vehicle to be a legal road. Wild One Max will launch in 2022 and is expected to cost £ 6000. Pre-orders are now being placed with a £ 100 refundable deposit.
