Valheim devs tease Hearth and Home update additions, show off buff trolls

Valheim was very successful from the start in early access, and now there are many people waiting to see what kind of content will be added to the game in the coming months. Valheim developer Iron Gate Games has indicated that the game’s first major update, entitled Hearth and Home, is on its way and today he shared more teasers of the upcoming update. The company also shared that it is working on some graphics updates.

Specifically, Iron Gate says it is working on graphical updates for the troll, the second boss named The Elder and the third boss named Bonemass to “give their old models some new looks”. The new looks, says Iron Gate, align better with the way the company imagines Valheim, but unfortunately, we can’t see any images of the new models for The Elder or Bonemass.

However, we were able to see an image of the new troll model, which you can see embedded above. If you haven’t played Valheim in a while, the new troll may not look very different from the old one, but the new model has more hair and improved nails. It is also noticeably more muscular than the old model, so you can expect to find these fleshy giants roaming the black forest when this update arrives sometime in the future.

Iron Gate didn’t share much about the Hearth and Home update, although it did publish two teaser images that we’ve included above and below. The first image is a tiny one that seems to focus on a pair of player’s feet potentially wearing new boots resting on what could be the basis of a new throne. The second image shows what could be a new type of ore, which aligns with the fact that Iron Gate says that there are “many new items related to it”.

Unfortunately, we didn’t receive a release date for the Hearth and Home update today, with Iron Gate saying it won’t decide on one until the update is in a “happy to release” state. We will keep an eye out for the release date and any new teasers that Iron Gate decides to share, but in the meantime, try to find out what’s going on in the two new images above.
