ISLAMABAD – India’s rival, Pakistan, is offering to send essential medical supplies to its neighbor who is suffering a devastating coronavirus wave that has depleted oxygen supplies and other hospital needs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that, as a gesture of solidarity with the people of India, Pakistan has offered to provide humanitarian aid, including fans, oxygen supply kits, digital X-ray machines, PPE and related items.
He said officials in both countries could define modalities for prompt delivery of items and could also explore possible ways of further cooperation to mitigate the challenges posed by the pandemic.
The offer came a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan in a tweet prayed for “the speedy recovery of the Indian people affected by the virus”.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan, first believing in a policy of humanity, made the offer to India and is awaiting a response.
