Usually all major Android phones have great specs now. Does the same deal apply to the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus? Samsung will tell you that there are a lot of things, but there is only one thing, the S-pen, the beautiful style. The Samsung Note starts at $ 100, which is hundreds of dollars more than comparable phones, even phones made by Samsung.
So you have to ask yourself, how much do you want this pen?
Before we delve into this review, I know that Note is more than just having a pen and an S pen. Is there anything you want on a smartphone? Because, this phone has: a massive screen, superior flight specifications, all-day battery, good cameras, DeX, beautiful looks, a depth sensor for AR. Except for the fact that a headset is missing, this is the phone of all.
Samsung gave a choice of sizes, the highest 10 plus grade and the lowest regular Samsung 10 grade. It’s not much bigger than the Galaxy S 10 and I bet most people wouldn’t lose the extra RAM and battery you get. great note 10. However, the Samsung Note 10 Plus is the real note. It’s about the same size as last year’s Note 9 and this size is large. It has a 6.8 inch more AMOLED HD screen and is beautiful. Note display may not have a high refresh rate that you can get in Plus 7 Pro, but that’s the only thing missing.
It’s bright and accurate in color, and goes to the edge of the phone, looks the future the way most phones don’t. The screen will ruin you. It is also the real note, because it has the best specifications. But again, robust specifications no longer differentiate the grade, not the way they used to. So let’s talk about the pen.
Samsung has added a gyroscope and an accelerometer so you can move it to control the camera and perhaps other applications eventually. What you do is keep the button pressed and then make gestures. And then the camera does things like zoom in, switch modes, or take a picture.
The other thing that is quite enigmatic, but stupid, is the AR scribbles. So in the first mode, you can draw people’s faces, mustaches, beards and horns or whatever. Hold on to their faces when they move, and it will work just fine.
But what I like best is to do it in the everywhere mode. It allows you to draw shapes in arbitrary space and they remain fixed where you drew them.
Not as good as the tilt brush, but much better than I expected. Now, I really enjoyed both of these things, but if anyone uses it more than three times, I would be completely shocked. Now the actual update of the pen is really in the phone software, in the Samsung notes. You can make a note quickly without turning on your phone as before, but now these handwritten notes are searchable and you can extract their text via OCR. There are a million other things this pen does. It can magnify things on the screen, it can turn an app into a small picture box and weird picture that you can hover over. It is also the best thing about screen capture design that you can take from a phone. At this point, you’re excited about the excitement with this little stick or you’re shrugging your shoulders.
Here are the only important reasons to spend hundreds of dollars more on Note 10 Plus than the Galaxy S 10 Plus.
Slightly larger screen, slightly larger battery with slightly faster charging and pen. That’s it.
There are several other things the Note can do and I will cover them all. But before that, I must admit, there’s one more thing about Note 10 Plus that I like besides the pen. It’s cool, it’s like a luxury object, like a Rolex or an Eames chair.
You are paying more for the brand name and the quality of the object. I mean, Samsung has dumped everything it has learned about making hardware on the Note 10 Plus. The glass, you know, bends and melts on the middle rail. The screen is completely from end to end and the fingerprint sensor is under the screen.
The pen is now unibody and how Samsung even made the balcony align. Just like a physical object, there is no prettier or better made phone.
And if you want the best, that’s it, go ahead and buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus.
The cameras are essentially unchanged from the Galaxy S 10, which means they are really good.
Now, this is the part where you expect me to say that Pixel 3 is a little better and, well, it is or isn’t. Make up your mind by looking at the picture.
In challenging or low light situations or if you start peeking at pixels, yes, Pixel 3 is better, but Note 10 has a telephoto lens and an ultra-white lens. And the camera app launches faster, so that, as a whole package, I enjoy using it at least in good light.
Note 10 Plus is also probably the best Android phone for recording videos, but that doesn’t mean it has an iPhone 10S. Samsung has added some new features to enhance the video.
The first is the live focus, which blurs the video background and is bad, they also slightly improved the stabilization of the video. I like the other thing where they put video editor Bare Bones.
Not bad, it’s almost what I wish iMovie were on iPhone, and using a stylus to edit video on a phone is much easier than using your big fat fingers. The last thing is a zoomed-in microphone option that tries to turn up the volume of audio that you zoomed in more than the audio around your phone that works, more or less.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus Features:
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus has several new features. For this review, what you should know is that it can be useful quickly, but it is not a reason to buy this phone.
- DeX which is that thing that you plug your phone into a monitor and then it turns it into a mini-computer. It works in a whole, new way this year exclusively on the Note 10. There is now a DeX app for both Windows and Mac that lets you have a window for doing all of your phone stuff right on your computer, which is the thing that you carry with you instead of a random monitor. DeX is okay, it’s not super-fast but it is a convenient way to do texting directly from your computer, or drag and drop files between your phone and your computer but it’s much better in theory than it is in execution.
- All right, what else has Samsung packed into this thing? Well, a ton. There is a depth camera in the back that can measure the size of stuff and eventually is going to let you scan 3D objects and put them into your AR.
- There’s also a new version of their game mode that makes it easier to tweak settings and also grab screenshots.
- There’s just also a million other Samsung settings with a lock screen, and the edge panel, and all the rest.
- And then there’s Bixby, Bixby’s still here but Samsung did get rid of the dedicated button for it. It’s built into the power button, but, actually understanding what’s going to happen when you press the power button gets a little bit complicated even with the new configuration settings. And also, you know, Bixby still isn’t good, which means you’re going to still end up using the Google Assistant instead.
- Samsung is also partnered with Microsoft and so there’s a bunch of Microsoft stuff there. It links up to the Your Phone app on Windows, and Microsoft smartphone apps are pre-installed.
- By the way, that means that there are now three email apps on this thing out of the box. Gmail, Samsung Mail, and Outlook.
Samsung got better with software with a user interface and I don’t hate it anymore, but you need to learn several ways to do Samsung and deal with choosing between Samsung apps or Google apps or now Microsoft apps. For the experts, it’s manageable, but for everyone else, it’s a real hassle.
And of course, Samsung takes a long time to get full updates of the Android version. It is updating security updates faster and One UI does so much that you may not be sad about not getting Android Q right away, but it’s still annoying.
There is so much in Note 10 Plus that it is stunning and Samsung software can barely contain everything and keep it understandable. He has everything except the headset. And I like some of them and I hate some of them too, but none of them is the reason to buy or skip this phone.
The Note 10 Plus is a smartphone that reaches $ 100. But then again, there are Android phones and even Samsung phones, which cost hundreds of dollars less and lead you almost all the way. One Plus 7 Pro is still amazing, and Pixel 4 is just a few months away, plus the Galaxy S 10 Plus is not that different from that. Some people just want the best thing, and clearly this is the coolest Android phone by far. I love how luxurious the hardware is, see the color.
But I can’t say that this is a great reason to buy this phone, because it all comes down to this little thing, the S pen. The problem is that unless you want a pen, I don’t think it’s worth spending the extra money. with Note 10 Plus.
