After Super Nintendo World Direct last week, Universal Studios Japan updated its app so that it now has a Super Nintendo World tab. Dataminers were quick to investigate the app and discovered a series of tips on a Donkey Kong theme area arriving at the park.
Originally announced in a tweet from @KRoolKountry, the Donkey Kong fan shared a series of stickers allegedly found in the app that further suggest Donkey Kong’s involvement in the park. The stickers feature not only Donkey Kong, but also Diddy Kong, a DK barrel and Rambi the Rhino.
Thanks to a video tour of the Super Nintendo World app from GameXplain, we can see what features the app has to offer. By opening the Super Nintendo World tab in the Universal Studios Japan standard app, visitors have access to a park map, the park’s history and other visitors’ ratings while in the park.
Although there is no Donkey Kong area on the map at the moment, we can see where Miyamoto visited during the live, including Peach Castle, the Koopa Troopa Power Punch and the Bob-omb Kaboom Room. We can also see the Piranha Plant Nap Mishap on the map that Miyamoto passed, but he still didn’t want to show it to the public.
We received an initial indication that DK would join the Super Nintendo World as early as 2019, when The Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast’s Facebook page shared photos of what appear to be conceptual models of the park. Without official confirmation, we can only speculate that this would look like a Donkey Kong area if Universal included one.
