Remains found in Hope, B.C., identified as missing from a 48-year-old woman from Port Moody

A case of missing person in Metro Vancouver in January and unidentified remains found in Fraser Valley in March have now been linked.

At 10 am on March 29, Upper Fraser Valley RCMP responded to a report on human remains found south of Silver Creek in Hope, B.C.

As the circumstances were considered suspicious, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took the case

IHIT announced today (May 1) that the remains were identified as 48-year-old Port Moody’s Trina Hunt.

In January, a search for Hunt began, which was last seen at her home on January 18.

Investigators suspect a crime in Hunt’s death and are working with the Port Moody police.

“The investigation into Trina Hunt’s disappearance has now changed to a homicide case,” IHIT Sgt. Frank Jang said. “As this is an active and ongoing investigation, there will be no further details provided at this time.”

Anyone with information should contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-4448 or by email. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
