EXCLUSIVE: The woman begged for photos of her breasts to be taken offline after seeing them on Instagram after her operation at the hands of surgeon Dr. Ahmed Abd El Gawad
A plastic surgeon posted “before and after” pictures of a patient’s breasts on Instagram – without asking for her permission.
The woman, who was clearly identifiable by the necklace and the piercing on her belly, was horrified to see the photos online.
The surgeon Nip-and-Tuck, Dr. Ahmed Abd El Gawad, has now received an official indictment.
A disciplinary panel heard the woman see the images after they appeared on a social media account for Mr. Plastic Surgeon in the UK.
The audience was told that the patient, who was knife-fired at a private clinic in northwest England, did not consent to the photos of her breasts being used for advertising purposes.
The General Medical Council was informed: “She desperately wanted to be killed.
“She was extremely embarrassed as she was before the surgery, she didn’t even let her partner see her without a bra and never allowed pictures to be used on the internet.”
Egyptian Dr El Gawad, who started his career in 1995, received an alert from the watchdog. The surgeon, who believed that the photos were not identifiable, gave the patient an “unreserved apology.”
He would have “thought about it a lot”, changed his practices and instructed his colleagues not to make the same mistake.
The doctor was among 76 doctors who were allowed to keep their jobs after the rule break in 2020.
One was scolded for a drunk e-scooter ride along Germany’s sidewalks, while another was in an air crash in France. Other doctors were caught with drugs, alcohol and driving, shoplifting or were rude to colleagues.
One of them ended up in bad shape after he exploded while talking on the phone to the NHS call center that handles employee pensions.
The GMC said: “There are a number of sanctions that can be applied. We only issue warnings when there is clear evidence that a doctor does not continue to pose a threat to patient safety and they have taken all necessary measures to correct and improve their behavior.
“A notice is marked against a doctor’s entry in the medical record and is available to the public.
“We will take immediate steps to protect patients if a warning is violated.”
