New Pokemon Snap event today in Pokemon GO: Shiny rarity ahoy!

If you are looking for an early entry into the world of New Pokémon Snap, look for Pokémon GO. Starting today at 10am (local time), Niantic starts the “New Pokémon Snap Celebration” for the Pokémon GO trainer universe. This event includes a new gift sticker (the Pokémon Snap camera) available in the game store and on PokeStops, and that is the minimum!

You will find a new camera avatar item available in the Avatar Store as a backpack item. You’ll find the snapshot feature (RA photos) that offers a Smeargle of up to FIFTEEN times a day! This instant Photobomb situation shows Smeargle in the jungle after each appearance – which is a good thing, as now is the best time to find a Bright Smeargle.

This is the only time you will be able to see a Shiny Smeargle in the Pokémon GO game until they reactivate the Shiny Smeargle in a future event. Most Pokémon, when activated in their Shiny form on Pokémon GO, remain available after the launch event. The Shiny Smeargle is almost the only one in the sense that the standard Smeargle will continue to appear out of season, but the Shiny Smeargle will no longer be available in the foreseeable future.

You’ll also see a collection of Pokémon from the Lental region appearing in Raid Battles – another Pokémon Snap connection. In the jungle you will find Metapod, Sandshrew, Geodude, Dodrio, Hoothoot, Ducklett, Audino and Finneon. You’ll also find Cacnea, Trapinch, Lotad, Skarmory, Mantine, Aipom and Chinchou. This collection of Pokémon will continue to be available in the wild (in larger numbers than normal) throughout the event.

The New Pokémon Snap Celebration event on Pokémon GO starts on Thursday, April 29, at 10am local. It will last until May 2, 2021, at 8 pm local time. It’s good out there – make it happen, Shiny Smeargle style, right away!
