Leaks on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 show S Pen, camera under the screen

Now that Samsung’s “most powerful Galaxy” products have been revealed, all eyes will be on their next big event in about three months. This will, of course, be the pair of folding phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the latter supposedly skipping a number to match the previous one. Many of its expected features have already been leaked, but now some marketing materials show some of them, including what might be a camera under the Galaxy Z Fold 3 screen.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 should already support an S Pen, although it is not hidden inside the phone itself. Like this year’s Galaxy S21 Ultra, it will be an optional accessory that should be kept outside, perhaps with a special case just for the folding one. A screenshot of what appears to be a press rendering for the phone shows a use case for it, but it also suggests an unexpected surprise.

The S Pen could be used to take notes by hand during a video call, as shown in the leak above. This leak, however, also shows no sign of a camera cut, even if it is circular. In fact, the same source claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a camera under the display, which is considered to be better than ZTE’s disappointing implementation on the ZTE Axon 20 5G.

This leak was corroborated by another leak, this time coming with an image of the back of the folding phone. Unlike Samsung’s flagships this year, it appears that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will not adopt the new Contour Cut camera design on the rear. Apparently, it will have only three cameras, none of which will show a periscope-type telephoto camera.

This new leak on a camera under the display, along with previous rumors about IP rating for water resistance, S Pen support and finer bezels, definitely make the Galaxy Z Fold 3 look like Samsung’s most powerful Galaxy phone this year. There is still no firm word on when it will be announced, but it could happen as early as July if the company’s adjusted schedule is taken into account.
