Fall Guys, in case you haven’t heard, is coming to Xbox and Switch sometime in the future. Originally, the Xbox and Switch versions of the game were scheduled to launch sometime this summer, but now both versions have been postponed. Instead, developer Mediatonic has indicated that it will add cross-play to Fall Guys before launching on Xbox and Switch.
“With so many new opportunities in our hands, we realized that our Switch and Xbox launch schedule for summer 2021 previously announced is unfortunately too early to include all the tasty new features we’re working on,” said Mediatonic in a post from blog today. The company explained that the delay will give the team “some time to add features like the cross game” and suggested that the feature would be live on the Switch and Xbox versions from day one.
Unfortunately for those eager to dive into Fall Guys on Xbox or Switch, Mediatonic has not given us the new launch window that is intended for both versions. The hope is that this delay will not be so dramatic – maybe we’ll see the fall guys come to the Xbox and change this fall instead of this summer? – but without a new Mediatonic target, it’s impossible to say that for sure.
In the more immediate future, Mediatonic says it will continue to launch new seasons and all that entails, including new costumes, shows and rounds. Mediatonic also specifically mentions the next season’s 4.5 update for Fall Guys, which will add two new rounds and update the number of available outfits.
Other than that, however, we are being left in the dark. Mediatonic says it will be “communicating any updates as soon as possible”, so we’ll let you know when those updates come to an end.
