Saturday turned out to be a big gathering for the Hindi film industry as many Bollywood celebrities flew to the national capital following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event, organized by Prime Minister Modi to mark the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, took place at his residence in Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. At the event, he interacted with members of the creative and entertainment world to popularize Gandhi’s ideals through the medium.
Actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Sonam Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez and others attended the event as part of the #ChangeWithin initiative. Also present were filmmakers such as Ekta Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani, Aanand L. Rai, Imtiaz Ali, Boney Kapoor and Anurag Basu.
After the meeting, they thanked the prime minister of social media for giving them the opportunity to be part of the #ChangeWithin initiative.
Shah Rukh Khan tweeted: “Thanks to @narendramodi for welcoming us and having such an open discussion about #ChangeWithin and the role artists can play in spreading The Mahatma’s messages. Also the idea of a Film University is extremely timely! (sic). “
In a video posted by PMO official identifier SRK, accompanied by Aamir Khan, he said: “I feel we need to reintroduce Gandhi ji in India and around the world. It should not always be about business, but in an engaging and entertaining way, everyone should be involved. “
“It was a really wonderful interaction we had with the prime minister today. It was lovely to hear his thoughts. He was very inspiring, very warm and very deep in what he had to say,” Aamir said in the video.
Kangana Ranaut praised PM Narendra Modi for respecting the industry and recognizing the power of art.
“Modiji is the first prime minister who is so inclusive in art and artists and the film industry. No one has respected and acknowledged the soft power of art and artists in the country before. Sonam Kapoor shared a photo of his interaction with PM Modi on Instagram. The photo also featured directors Rajkumar Hirani and Aanand L. Rai.

Sonam was also part of Hirani’s Mahatma Gandhi tribute video, along with other major industry players.
Rakul Preet went to Twitter to share a selfie with PM Modi, along with Ekta Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez.
She wrote: “It is an honor to meet our honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji and discuss the potential of the film industry to bring about change.
Jacqueline also shared a selfie with the prime minister, who featured Kangana, Ekta, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Wardha Khan Nadiadwala (wife of Sajid Nadiadwala).
“What an honor @narendramodi,” Jacqueline subtitled her photo.
“It was an extreme honor to be here at the home of Prime Minister Modi and also to have an accessible and always willing Prime Minister to raise the film fraternity, give us help and support. It was a real privilege,” Jacqueline thanked PM Modi in a video.
In addition, filmmakers such as Ekta Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani, Aanand L Rai, Imtiaz Ali, Boney Kapoor, and Anurag Basu also thanked the Modi government for supporting the film fraternity. They also emphasized that their efforts will increase the popularity of Gandhian thoughts in the cinema.
PM Narendra Modi tweeted photos of the interaction and wrote, “Our film and entertainment industry is diverse and vibrant. Its international impact is also huge. Our movies, music and dance have become very good ways of connecting people and societies.”
In another tweet, he posted a photo of the session with leading movie personalities and cultural icons.
“Spreading Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts through the cinema, ensuring that younger people are well acquainted with Gandhi Ji’s ideals. Today’s interaction with leading film personalities and cultural icons has been fruitful. We exchanged thoughts on a wide range of subjects,” tweeted.
Celebrities such as Jackie Shroff, Raj Shaandilyaa, Kapil Sharma and Varun Sharma, including many others, also attended the event.
