Ban on outdoor dining neglected in major cities

ISLAMABAD: Although the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) announced on Friday a ban on outdoor dining in restaurants amid an alarming increase in corona cases, food stores served food to customers in major cities after the Iftar and before Sehr.

A brief observation in the big cities showed that the hotels still served customers who came for food, although with some reaction and the flow was noticeably lower than the routine. People were seen eating at popular restaurants in Rawalpindi like Banni Chowk, Saddar and other smaller venues like Sir Syed Chowk and Murree Road etc.

In Peshawar, hotels served outdoor food in Namak Mandi, Qissa Khwani Saddar, Charsadda Road, Ring Road, etc. In Lahore, people were seen enjoying food in Gawalmandi, Lakshmi Chowk, Garhi Shahu and small markets. Similar was the situation in Burns Road, Saddar, Bahadurabad and elsewhere. The influx of customers was low and SOPs were also observed, but the ban on indoor meals was neglected.
