After a bit of trouble with Sonic’s design, it looks like last year’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie has recovered very well. Although the film has only a critical score of 47 on Metacritic, it has a high user score of 8.2. Not only that, but the film was well enough to make a good change, so of course, it means that a sequel is underway. Today, Sega and Paramount Pictures revealed the title of the Sonic sequel, and you will never guess what the title is.
We’re just kidding, since most of us have probably seen this title from a mile away. The film’s title is Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is not too shocking, especially after it has been confirmed that Tails will be part of the film. Sonic Movie’s official Twitter account shared a teaser that reveals the title today, with “2” in the title even boasting a Tails-inspired design.
There’s even a taste of the Emerald Hill Zone’s music, which serves as the opening level in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Sega Genesis. It is an appropriate choice, considering that the film’s working title is “Emerald Hill”. It seems that the film’s production has layers upon layers of references to the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 video game.
Unfortunately, those who are excited about this sequel will have a long time to wait, as Sega and Paramount have confirmed that it will not be released in theaters until April 8, 2022. This is more than a year, so hopefully we will be in the next one. side of this pandemic and we can actually go watch movies safely there.
With the release so far, we will undoubtedly hear more about this film in the coming months. It will be a while before we see the first Sonic the Hedgehog 2 trailer, as filming is not scheduled to begin until next month, but we will let you know when Sega and Paramount release the film.
