Sondors’ futuristic-looking Metacycle, its first electric motorcycle, is expected to hit the market at a shockingly low price by the end of the year, offering urban customers a light and inexpensive way to get around the city. Although the bike is not yet available for purchase, you can now see it in action in a new reach test video.
Sondors shared a new video of the Metacycle electric motorcycle on a real-world cruise along the California coast. The bike is, as you expected, as quiet as it is elegant, presenting a look that is distinctly “motorcycle” in nature, but with a square and shiny appearance that distinguishes it from its classic gas-powered sisters.
Metacycle is one of the most interesting electric motorcycles we’ve seen in recent history. The model packs a 4,000-watt-hour battery capable of supplying power to the bike for a modest 80-mile interval. This may seem a little low, but it’s a solid compromise when you consider the $ 5,000 bike’s starting price.
Metacycle supports public charging stations and includes a removable battery for those who need to charge it indoors at night (takes about four hours if you are using a standard outlet). The electric motorcycle weighs 200 pounds and will be offered in three color options: Naked Silver, Supermassive Black and Arctic White.
Ultimately, the bike is made for those who want a compact, all-electric way to get around the city that can be quickly charged and used regularly. The low initial price makes this one of the most affordable electric motorcycles, but shipping is not expected to start until the fourth quarter of the year.
