Barely two weeks have passed since OnePlus announced its first champions in 2021, but it appears that the OnePlus 9 series has been hit by the notorious bad luck on the company’s launch day. If asked, OnePlus would probably prefer people to buy its top-of-the-line and more expensive OnePlus 9 Pro model, which came with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Not everyone, however, may not be very interested in its price, but you may not have a choice anyway, as the most affordable entry-level model still seems to be lacking in action.
Just as there are two OnePlus 9 phones, each has two configurations, making a total of four options. Both the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro have basic models with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and also have models with twice the available memory. Unfortunately for buyers interested in the OnePlus 9 Pro, only that one is available.
Throughout the pre-order period until its general availability, Android Police realized that the OnePlus 9 Pro is available in one and only one model. That’s $ 1,069 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. No trace of the base model can be found even in other OnePlus retail channels, such as Amazon, Best Buy and B&H Photo and Video.
The company has not yet canceled the phone, it informs the website, and still plans to sell the $ 969 phone. No reason has been given either, although it comes as no surprise if the global chip shortage is blamed.
Meanwhile, OnePlus has already released an update for all OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro phones. The update, which brings OxygenOS to version 22.214.171.124, brings Android’s March security patches, some bug fixes and improvements performance of the camera.
