Shadowlands, World of Warcraft Classic 2021 plans leak before BlizzConline

The day before BlizzConline – the all-online replacement for what should be BlizzCon 2021 – was set to begin, Blizzard’s announcements about the World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft Classic retailers were leaked. These leaks detail not only what lies ahead for the latest WoW expansion, Shadowlands, but also what will come in the World of Warcraft Classic in 2021 – something we are sure most WoW Classic players have already discovered.

The WoWHead folks are hosting the leaked material, which includes a collection of Shadowlands screenshots and eviction information for both titles. The first major content update for Shadowlands will be called Chains of Dominion, and will cause players to plunge “into the new depths of Jailer’s desperate dominion, seeking to understand the true nature of their evil plans”

Players will be able to visit Korthia, the “City of Secrets”, in an attempt to unite the four covenants – kyrian, night fae, necolords and venthyr – before their attack on the jailer. The update will add a new 10-boss attack called Sanctum of Domination and an eight-boss mega-dungeon known as Tazavesh, the Veiled Market. Of course, we can also expect new cosmetics, equipment, mounts and pets, because it’s hardly a retail World of Warcraft update without any of them.

As for the World of Warcraft Classic, it looks like the launch of The Burning Crusade will take place in 2021, allowing players to explore a new realm called Outland and introducing two new races to the Blood Elves of the Horde and the Draenei of the Alliance. Players will have the option of keeping their characters on Classic Era servers or bringing them to Burning Crusade servers. It seems like this is a decision that players can make character by character as well, so if you have multiple characters, you can choose to keep some of them on vanilla servers while bringing others to the Burning Crusade.

While World of Warcraft Classic players have been waiting for Blizzard to add The Burning Crusade since Classic was announced, it will still be nice to have this confirmation that the expansion is coming. BlizzConline starts tomorrow, February 19th, and runs through the weekend, so it won’t be long before we get confirmation from Blizzard and then some. Stay tuned.
