Samsung has been promoting its new Galaxy SmartTag Plus gadgets since the beginning of the year. When they were first spoken, the release date was announced as next. The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag Plus is now officially available for pre-order, with an availability date scheduled for April 12, 2021. That’s just over a week from now.
Originally, when Samsung announced the Plus version, it said that a single device would cost $ 39.99. That price seems to be accurate, as the pre-order list on BHPVideo is $ 39.99. Galaxy SmartTag Plus is only available for pre-order in black at the moment. It sells for $ 10 more than the standard Galaxy SmartTag.
For an extra $ 10, the Plus version allows tracking via UWB and supports AR location. It also uses Bluetooth 5.0, offering a tracking range of 394 feet when using Bluetooth only. It interfaces with the SmartThigs app and allows you to track objects or pets using a Galaxy Phone. The app and tag provide an audible tone to help track missing items.
Samsung’s SmartTag Plus works with a replaceable watch battery, valid for up to five months, which means you don’t have to remove it from the object you’re tracking to charge it. Augmented reality with UWB functionality uses the camera built into the smartphone to display its immediate area on the phone screen. It overlays the position navigation data with UWB at the top of the image, making it easier to navigate to your lost object or pet.
When out of reach, the Galaxy Find Network takes advantage of other devices owned by you and others to help find your device. As SmartTag Plus reaches other Galaxy devices, its location is recorded on that device, allowing users to know their last known position on the map.
