Niantic revealed some more details today about his next Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event that will begin at 9am on Saturday, February 20, 2021. This event will last until 9pm the same day – local start and end times. This event will feature all 150 original Pokémon, including the highly anticipated SHINY DITTO. And a Shiny Mew, but who cares, right?
Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto includes a special research story in which the trainer and professor Willow will explore the Kanto region, “learning all about the Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region”. Once this Special Survey is completed, the trainer will have access to Shiny Ditto.
There will be 10 new Collection Challenges, “based on ticket color”. Completing all 10 collection challenges will require the player to collect a large amount of Pokémon. Depending on the color of your ticket to the event, the standard Incense will attract a Pokémon or other color, meaning that some players will find it easier to finish some collection challenges, while others will find it easier with others.
This event will also present a new type of research called “Masterwork Research”. This survey will only be available when the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research is completed.
The Masterwork Survey will be extremely difficult to complete. “Just filling out the first page will require you to receive your Kanto platinum medal.” You will also need to catch 30 Pokémon of EACH TYPE, rotate 151 cool UNIQUE Pokestops, reach level 40, walk 151 km and MORE THINGS TOO.
After you have done all this, and probably 100 years old, because it will take FOREVER, you will receive a reward. The reward at the end of this path is an encounter with Shiny Mew. Madness!
