Disney and Marvel seem to have achieved a solid reception for their first two Disney + shows – WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – and next, we are looking at Loki’s debut in June. Today Loki received his first full trailer, setting the stage for the TV show and what it will bring, at least in the first season. It looks like we’re once again in a time-lapse storyline, as Disney and Marvel have confirmed that Loki will handle the title character’s actions in Avengers: Endgame.
Of course, Loki did not play a very big role in Endgame, thanks to the fact that he was killed at the beginning of the Infinity War. Still, Loki appears briefly in Endgame, when a group of our heroes travels back to 2012 to retrieve the Tesseract and, unknowingly, allow Loki – who was in custody after his role in the Battle of New York – to escape with him.
The new television series will follow that 2012 Loki and what will happen to him after he passes through a portal and escapes the Avengers Tower, with the Tesseract in hand. It turns out that Loki 2012 broke reality when he ran away with the Tesseract, and now the Temporary Variance Authority has arrested him to help them solve the problem.
The trailer definitely paints an intriguing picture, and sending the Evil Lord on a mission to fix broken schedules seems like the beginning of something good. Unlike WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it doesn’t look like Loki will be a miniseries, as Disney and Marvel have already started developing a second season.
Loki premieres on Disney + on June 11, with the first season consisting of 6 episodes. We will undoubtedly see more trailers and teasers as we get closer to the show’s debut, so stay tuned for more.
