CAPE TOWN – Police said on Sunday that complaints from community members led to the arrest of two alleged police killers this week.
Metropolitan police officer Mzuvukile Mhlengi was shot dead on Wednesday. The 49-year-old man worked at the Metropolitan Police Radio Control in the town of N1 in Goodwood.
He was off duty at the time and was shot while sitting in his vehicle outside his home in Philippi.
Police spokesman Frederick van Wyk said two suspects – aged 39 and 49 – fled the scene in their vehicle.
“The deceased’s vehicle was found in the possession of one of the suspects. Both were detained at the Philippi East Police Station and will appear at the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 3, on charges of murder ”.
