If you buy the Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut DLC, you’ll have a new raid boss to be destroyed, a murder mystery to solve, and some behind-the-scenes footage to see, but the next add-on also features a new progression system and a new way to win even more items.
First, the new Vault Card system adds an infinite progression range for anyone looking for something to keep them motivated in their fiftieth game. Activate a Vault Card to add a new progress bar and gain access to new daily and weekly challenges. All XP earned during the game counts towards the Vault Card progression.
Each time you level up your Vault Card, you will earn a Vault Card Chest that contains specific items for the active card. The chest will contain a piece of equipment from the weekly equipment stock, a cosmetic item from the active card, some Eridium, a super rare Vault Card Key or an even rarer Diamond Key. The Vault Car Keys give you an active Card Legendary item.
Diamond Keys, as the name suggests, are better than Golden Keys. Where the Golden Keys give access to a special chest, the Diamond Keys give access to the Diamond Armory in Sanctuary III. This new room has three exceptional drawing walls, but it is accessed with a timer and you can only choose one thing from each wall. When the time is up, a Diamond Chest will be activated, containing a guaranteed Legendary – which all Vault Hunters want.
Therefore, Vault Cards are like a battle pass with random rewards for a one-time fee. Gearbox plans to add three Vault Cards to the game this year, with the first, Fallen Heroes, becoming available at the launch of the Director’s Cut DLC. For all the details, check out the official guide on the Borderlands 3 website.
Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut will be released on April 8. It is included as part of Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition, in Season Pass 2, or you can purchase it individually.
