Another study warns mixing vapes and smoking is a bad idea

When it comes to harm reduction, studies have indicated that switching from smoking to vaporized electronic cigarettes is likely to be beneficial, which eliminates tar and other problems associated with smoking. On the other hand, however, there is a growing body of research that has found that mixing smoking and vaporizing habits is a bad idea when it comes to lung health.

The latest research on the subject comes from Massachusetts General Hospital, where experts have found that people who smoke and vaporize are more likely to develop breathing problems like wheezing and coughing compared to people who smoke or vaporize, but not both.

The results were based on an analysis of data from the Study of the Population of Tobacco and Health (PATH); it involved information about more than 20,000 people aged 12 and over who had no breathing problems at the beginning of their involvement.

Move forward one year and participants were asked about any breathing problems they may have developed, as well as whether they smoked, smoked or were dual users of both products. Dual users were found to be 1.9 times more likely to develop respiratory problems compared to people who smoke and 1.24 times more likely to develop the same problems compared to smokers.

Meanwhile, people who had no smoking history but who vaporized were only slightly more likely to develop these problems, compared to people who did not smoke or vaporize. Based on the findings, the researchers note that if you are a smoker who plans to use vaporization as a way to stop smoking, you should make a complete switch from cigarettes to your electronic siblings instead of using a mixture of the two products.
