Remember that time, just over five years ago, when the internet went crazy over a topic of 148 “Zola” tweets? It was the first-hand account of Aziah Wells, then 20 years old, of her stunning trip to Florida, starting with a plan devised by a co-worker to earn a lot of money dancing in strip clubs.
Now Zola is a film, and Angie Han of Mashable says it’s very good, thanks in large part to stars Taylour Paige and Riley Keough. The black comedy-drama-as-you-really-call-it debuted at Sundance in early 2020, before the whole world closed, and now its time has finally come.
This new trailer shows the upcoming roller coaster, with Zola scheduled to hit theaters (and theaters only, apparently) this summer.
